5 Reasons Why I LOVE Retreats!

I LOVE RETREATS! Over the years, I’ve been lucky to attend quite a few yoga and meditation retreats. These experiences have all had a positive and powerful impact on me. I keep being drawn towards participating in and leading retreats. Here are my 5 main reasons for why I think retreats are so powerful and special:

✨ You get to deepen your yoga & mindfulness practice and in a “no rush” setting ✨

I really value the opportunity to intentionally deepen and explore my yoga and mindfulness practice in a relaxed and “no rush” setting. I love that after practicing, I don’t have to rush on to the next thing (grocery shopping, public transportation, work emails etc.), but instead you can “sit with” the calmness and stillness. This brings me to my next point…

✨ Having the time & space for reflection & self-discovery ✨

To have the time and space to reflect and discover new things about yourself, and to integrate those lessons and insights can truly be transformational. All the retreats I’ve attended have included various workshops, and I truly appreciate and enjoy the opportunity to learn from other teachers as well as the people in the group.

✨ Making meaningful connections with other people

I love meeting people I otherwise probably wouldn’t have met and make new friends! Humans are hard-wired for connection and going on a retreat is such a unique opportunity to connect with other people. Retreats offer opportunities to be part of a community of like-minded people AND also get to know people who might be very different from you.

✨ Exploring & experiencing a new place & culture ✨

Investing in a retreat is a great opportunity to travel and explore a new place and culture that you maybe haven’t experienced before. Visiting a new place is enriching in so many ways. And the retreat facilitators have completed all the travel research and arrangements, so you don’t have to. Instead, you can relax and allow yourself to be guided.

✨ Getting a lasting well-being boost ✨

At every single retreat I’ve attended, I’ve always felt a lasting impact of the retreat on my well-being. I’ve left each retreat with various tools and methods for my physical and mental wellness as well as lots of joyful memories. In my psychology studies, I’ve come across really interesting research that supports my experience. Several studies have found lasting impact on retreat attendees’ health and well-being after attending retreats. So going on a retreat is really an investment in your health and well-being, with lasting impact. And what could be more important than that!

✨ To sum it all up, retreats are just so much MORE than a vacation! ✨

And I’m super excited to be part of 3 (!!) retreats in 2024:

  • In February, I’m going to attend and be the wellness facilitator for Diana Davis’ retreat for female creative entrepreneurs in Ecuador!

  • In March, I’m going to attend and teach restorative yoga classes and a workshop on positive emotions at Caitlyn Corradino’s Nutrition & Intuition retreat in Scotland!

  • In September, I will be facilitating my signature Yoga & Well-Being Retreat on the beautiful Greek island of Aegina! And I could not be more thrilled about it! You can find all the retreat details here.

What do you think? Do you have any additional reasons for why retreats are powerful? Send me a message to let me know your thoughts!

P.S. I also want to acknowledge that retreats can be high-priced and acknowledge that it is a privilege to be able to attend retreats. Most retreat facilitators do have payment plans, which can help with retreat accessibility.
