Wanna give your future self an even better Holiday? Do this!
A few days ago, I met a friend I haven't seen in a while at a New Year’s Eve party. Naturally, we started talking about the holidays. “How was your holiday?” I asked. She smiled and said, “You know what? I actually had a really good one this year.”
I was curious to hear more. And she shared something that stuck with me: “Last year, I wrote a list to my future self. Simple reminders about how to manage my energy to make my holiday experience better. And it worked!”
Her list wasn’t complicated, just a few thoughtful tweaks:
✨ She planned fewer events than in previous year and made sure there was space in her schedule to relax and actually enjoy the holidays.
✨ For the Christmas dinner she hosted, she delegated tasks in advance, giving each guest specific responsibilities. The year before she had handeled everything herself, which left her feeling drained.
✨ For a family member who usually tested her patience, she decided to pause and take a deep breath before responding to the stuff that annoyed her. She often found that someone else handled the situation before she needed to.
Small shifts, big difference.
Hearing this inspired me. What if we all took a moment to reflect on our holidays. To savor and feel grateful the good moments, and also reflect on what could be even better.
What brought you joy? What drained your energy? What do you need to do to really take care of your well-being during the holidays? Maybe there are some boundaries to establish, or something you want to prioritize when the next holiday season comes around.
I invite you to reflect on this and write it down. Actually write it all down. Think of it as a permission slip to your future self. A way to set yourself up for an even better holiday season in 2025. And I'll be doing this activity along with you 🤗
Maybe you’ll write down your in a notebook. Or set a reminder in your calendar. Or even schedule an email to yourself to arrive in late November, right when you’ll need it most. Because we often forget these things and repeat the same patterns again and again if we're not reminded.
Whatever you choose, give yourself the gift of these reflections. Your future self will thank you.
I’d love to hear if you try this and what’s on your list if you want to share this with me! My email inbox & Instagram DMs are always open 🥰
